We all have wondered how to find our style, how do i define myself with just a piece of clothing? I think is really hard to choose one style and stick to it, so that’s why you can mix them and make it even more fun. I will walk you throughout the process of finding your own style but first things first.

What kind of styles are there? Right now there are 10 most popular and those are the ones that i will be explaining to you.

Casual

This style is usually jeans, t-shirts,tops, sweaters, sneakers, shorts and much more, however this is not the only type of casual, i am talking about the basic and the more used in fashion.

There isn’t a better picture to describe this style, is basically feeling ‘comfy’ but still looking cute.

Preppy

This is one of my personal favorites. Is considered “The old money style” because there is a lot of vests, skirts, headbands, polo sweaters and so on. This style is just neutral colors so it goes with the aesthetic.

Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger are basically the creators of this style.

Vintage

This style is every piece of clothing that is 20 to 100 years old. Vintage can be any year from the 1920’s to 2000. There’s always a person that inspires the era, for example Princess Diana inspires the vintage style from the 80’s to the 90’s and is honestly the best inspiration you could find to follow this style. Vintage is anything that was considered ‘fashion’ at the year you chose. Diana was honestly ahead of her time when we talk about fashion.

If your style is vintage the person to get inspiration is from Lady Di, trust me.

Bohemian/ Hippie

This style is often related with hippie clothing because they are both characterized by it’s long skirts, embroidery, flat sandals, and knitting, this look is often colorful and layered. But when you look at them you will realize that they are certainly different.

Electic

This style is funky and fun, it is for those who don’t want to stick to just one type of clothing. It is described as the style that has a little bit of everything. You can put a long skirt (boho) with a sweater (casual) or with a blazer (bussiness casual) and so on.

It usually doesn’t make much sense when you see the pieces separated but when you put them together they look really good. It also has a lot of colors.

Classic

This style is described by clean silhouttes, neutral colors (mostly black), minimal details, cardigans, and tailored cuts. You can never go wrong with classic style.

This style is best for those who don’t like that much color and like emphasizing their silhoutte.

Chic

Chic is described by the Oxford dictionary as “stylishness and elegance, typically of a specified kind”. This look is really famous in the “it” girl community. You just want to keep the clothing simple and focus on the bag and shoes so it’s effortless. In this style YOU are the one that makes the clothes look ‘Chic’. That’s why people say that being chis is something you are born with and can not learn.

Lily is the best inspiration for this style.

Business Casual

Business casual is defined as business attire but more ‘relaxed’ so it still is appropiate for meetings and offices. The attire shouldn’t include ripped jeans or skirts/ dresses above the knee and no sneakers. It mostly is Blazers, elegant trousers/ jeans and heels.

Honestly this style is anything you want but with a blazer, and it will still look effortlessly cute. Hailey Bieber uses this style A LOT so she would be a great inspiration.

Minimalist

This style has been trending for the last four years and so. It is such a good option for those who aren’t looking to call the attention but still look cute. This style is what you consider neccesary, the outfits don’t have much accesories and are very simple and neutral.

This style is so beautiful, simple and elegant and proves that most of the time, less is more.

Cottagecore

This style is a romanticized version of the western agricultural/farm life. It is mostly floral dresses and bandanas. This style is one of my favorites because it is so simple and yet still chic.

Now that you have read all of the most used styles, you must feel identified with at least three of them. To find your style all you need to do is go to your closet see what you don’t like and what you wish you had more of, separate them and create outfits. Create a moodboard on pinterest with the styles that you like because you can absolutely combine them so it becomes your own. Finding your style is like finding yourself, it is not an easy process but eventually you will find it.
