over the years.

Let’s talk about one of my favorite events of the year,The Met.
The met takes place in The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume in New York, this “ball” is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of The Met,what makes this ball so special is the dress code. Every year there’s a special costume theme selected by the museum. This is what sets the so important dress code. This Gala also benefits many charitable events and is considered “the most prominent and most exclusive social events in the world. It is also one of the biggest fundraising nights in New York City, with $9 million raised in 2013 and a record of $12 million the following year”. The Gala has been around since 1948, tickets were only $50usd. The early galas were mostly attended by members of New York’s high society and the city’s fashion industry.
Anna Wintour,Vogue editor, has been in the chair of the Met since 1995(excluding 1996 and 1998) she decides who and who doesn’t attend’s the event. The person who desires to attend the event has to pay a ticket which is $35,000 for a single ticket in 2019 and $200-300,000 for a table at the event, Anna decided this prices to make the event more ‘exclusive’. Before 2015 there weren’t either reporters nor photographers allowed to attend the event itself. There was also a no selfie/no video policy too for the guests, also no one until the age of 18 could attend the gala.
Now that i’ve introduced to you the gala,i want to talk about how awesome it’s this event. The fact that designers such as YVSL,Prada,Givenchy,Versace,Dior among others take this theme which is inspired by the exhibit of the year and they make it into fashion, they literally make this stunning pieces of clothing just by an exhibition, and that’s how amazing fashion is.
I want to talk about the best gala to ever exist. the 2018 gala. OMG it’s been 4 years and i’m still not over it. The theme was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. This was just something crazy for the fashion industry, the colors, the textiles, the combinations, the representations, dear Lord it was just amazing.

Blake aside the fact of being gorgeous, this dress makes her look like an angel,Versace ATE with this dress and this gala, i absolutely adore Versace.

If you haven’t noticed by now, the Hadid’s are my favorite models in the entire industry. Gigi just looks so stunning in this dress and the color fits her so perfectly, she’s an angel.

This is one of the best dresses of the night without doubt, inspired by the sistine chapel,Vera Wang designed this gorgeous gown for Ariana.

Lana’s dress was absolutely the most dramatic of the night, and you could tell it has a story behind it;and i’m here to tell it. The dress was in tribute to a Catholic depiction of Mother Mary and the sorrows of her life. In the religious iconography, the mother of Jesus is seen with seven daggers piercing her chest, which is often referred to in contemporary times as the ‘Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary’.

Chadwick Boseman, may he rest in peace.Wore a custom atelier Versace tuxedo, with gold Bvlgari jewelry and a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes,it is an statement to say that he looked absolutely amazing.I think the gold and white colors compliments his skin so beautifily.

The Victoria’s Secret angel wore a strapless Moschino dress with religious iconography with David Yurman jewelry. The makeup and the hair compliment perfectly the dress,it’s safe to say that she looked amazing.
I would love to go through all of the looks of that night but i can’t,i really loved writing this article with some of my favorite looks, this was hands down the best theme the met gala has ever had and everyone understood the assignment perfectly.
I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as i did writing it.
All the love <3.
